What is REALTOR.ca?

REALTOR.ca is Canada's most popular and trusted real estate platform displaying residential and commercial listings from REALTORS® across the country. It is important to note that REALTOR.ca is not an MLS® System. It is an advertising website that The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) created to give REALTORS® across Canada great listing exposure to a national and international audience.

The listing content advertised on REALTOR.ca comes from the various MLS® Systems operated by Real Estate Boards and Associations across Canada. REALTOR.ca is paid for by REALTORS® and is owned and operated in their interest by CREA.

What do visitors love about REALTOR.ca?

Real estate buyers, sellers and investors like finding trustworthy listings from across the country, that are up to date and presented to them by certified professionals. Visitors like that they can:

  1. Search using their personal criteria.
  2. Find and contact REALTORS® and learn why REALTORS® are important to the real estate process.
  3. Share their personal, favourite or compared listings with friends and family.
  4. Find out what they can afford using the mortgage calculator and other financial tools.
  5. Get a sense for the neighbourhood with detailed demographic information for each listing.

Does REALTOR.ca support mobile devices?

Yes, REALTOR.ca can be accessed from any mobile device. For the best mobile experience, download our iPhone, iPad, or Android app.

Getting Started
How do I navigate the website?

The top navigation can be used to access commercial or residential sections of the website .

You can also access your list of Favourites and Compared properties.

You can search by listing number or location.

And you can learn all about REALTORS® and find their contact information.

You can also choose to use REALTOR.ca in either English or French.

How do I find residential or commercial listings?

The two tabs in the top navigation bar give you an option to switch between residential and commercial real estate.

How do I find a REALTOR®?

You can find a list of Canadian REALTORS® by selecting Find a REALTOR® icon from the navigation bar at the top of the site. You can also choose to search by Office.

If you are looking for a REALTOR® with specific qualifications, you can select more options from the Find a REALTOR® page.

How do I search for specific listings?
  1. Enter the location. This can be the listing ID.
  2. Select Residential or Commercial to search for the listings you want. Residential section is the default.
  3. Narrow your search. For more specific property types (such as land, parking, multi-family, industrial), use the dropdown to change the search filters.

    Use as many of the filters as you wish using the drop-downs or "more options" button.
    There are also pre-filtered searches such as open houses and nearby search (Mobile only).
  4. Select the red GO button (if on the Home Page).
I prefer to see photos; do I always have to view listings on the map?

There are 3 ways to see listings that get returned as you run search on REALTOR.ca:

  1. Map - results are shown on the map with blue 'pins'. The numbers indicate the number of listings matching your search criteria and available in that location. The listings are also shown in thumbnails to the left of the map.
  2. Gallery - results are shown in a 'gallery' of thumbnails highlighting some of the information for that property (not on Mobile apps)
  3. List - results are shown in a vertical row, highlighting some of the property details and the listing REALTOR® information.
  4. With an account, you can change the default view (Map) to Gallery or List View and keep it for your future visits.
What is a Saved Search?

Saved search allows you to save time by entering your key search filters for future use.

Enter your key search criteria (filters) and store it with a meaningful name.

Want to look in multiple neighbourhoods or want to look at listing in different price ranges? Simply save another search with another name.

Signed-in users can save up to 50 saved searches and these will be available to them on different browsers or desktops. Guest users can only save 5 and will only be able to access them from 1 browser and one location (where they were originally saved). Sign in now.

How do I save my search criteria (Saved Search)?

On the website, first enter your key search criteria (such as bedrooms, bathrooms, price, location etc.) and run the search. You can then save the search filters you entered for that search (Saved Search) and save time on your next visit. Do this by accessing the green “Save & View Searches” button in the top right side of the map.

How do I compare listings (on the website)?

When you evaluate a few listings, you may want to see how they compare to each other. From any listing page or a thumbnail of that listing, click the Compare icon Favourites . You can access your Compared listings from the top navigation bar of the website, accessing the same icon (now blue). You may compare up to 5 listings, and if you are signed-in, you can also access them from any browser or location. Sign in now.

How do I delete listings from my Compared list?

If you no longer want to keep a compared listing, click Compare icon Favourites. Made a mistake and deleted a wrong listing? No problem, simply click Compare icon Favourites again. Access all of your compared listings directly from the top navigation bar Favourites. Compare feature is only available on the website.

How do I save My Favourites?

You can add listings to your list of Favourites by selecting the heart icon Favourites.

Signed-in users can save up to 150 favourites, available to them from different browsers or locations. Guest users can only save 50 and will only be able to access them from 1 browser and one location (where they were originally saved). Sign in now.

How do I delete listings from My Favourites?

Click the red heart icon Favourites on a listing you want to remove from Favourites.

Deleted a wrong listing? No problem, simply click the heart Favourites icon again. You can perform this action from any location where you see the coloured heart icon or directly from My Favourites, accessible from the top navigation bar.

How do I share a listing?

Contact your REALTOR®. If you don't have one, you can find one here. Otherwise, you can also use Email REALTOR® or call the REALTOR® using the information provided on the listing.

How do I create an account (sign-up) and login in (sign-in)?

First, click Sign-in Favourites icon in the top navigation. You can Sign-up using a social media account (Facebook, Twitter, Google or LinkedIn) or by using the Sign Up link at the bottom of the Sign in page and creating an account using your email address.

If you already have an account, enter your username and password or select one of the social media sign-in options. Sign up/ Sign in now.

Why do I have to verify my email when signing up?

Email verification is required to ensure that the email address entered during the sign up process belongs to you. By clicking on the 'verify my email' link in the email you receive during Sign Up, you will authorize the use of that email for the creation of REALTOR.ca account.

How do I create a secure password?

Make sure your password is at least 8 characters, with at least 1 number and 1 special character. Passwords are case sensitive, so including upper case and lower case letters will make your password safer

What do I do if I forget my password?

Click Sign in. Below password entry box there is a "forgot my password" link. You will get password reset instructions sent to your email address. Follow the prompts if you created your account without using Social Media. That password will need to be changed on your social media site. Using Social Media Identity Provider (Facebook, Twitter, Google, LinkedIn) to access your account can also be very helpful if you want to remember fewer passwords.

How do I change my password?

You can change your password by accessing My Account. Favourites

Can I sign-in with my social media account?

You can use one of the following Social Media accounts to sign-in to REALTOR.ca: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google.

Do I have to use Social Media to sign in?

No, you have an option to create an account by using your email address. You can later add one or more Social Identity Providers (Facebook, Twitter, Google, LinkedIn) to access your account, as long as the email you used to create REALTOR.ca account and the one you used for your social media is the same.

Why would I use Social Media to Sign In?

Social Media sign-up/sign-in makes the account creation and subsequent sign ins very easy and convenient. You don't have to remember another login and create yet another secure password.

Can I use Social Media account to sign-in after creating an account with my email?

Yes, you can add Social Media account to your existing account, as long as the email address is the same. For example, if you used someone@abc.com for your Social Media and the same email when you created an account on REALTOR.ca, then both accounts can be linked, after password verification.

Can I use one Social Media account to sign-in on one of my visits and then use another account on my next visit?

Yes, if the email address is the same. The first time you try to use a different Social Media you will have to provide the log-in for the original Social Media account as well as your new Social Media account. Once these are linked to your account, you can use them as you wish.

Will my information be saved when I log out?

Yes, all your settings, preferences, favourites and compared listings are kept in your account and you can access them as long as your account is active or until you decide to delete them.

What happens when some of my Favourites or Compared listings are removed from REALTOR.ca?

When listings you have favourited or compared are removed from REALTOR.ca, you will see a message indicating that this listing is no longer available.

How do I add notes to listings?

Notes can only be added or viewed by signed-in users. First, sign in to your account. Select “Add Notes” by clicking on the pen icon notes. Add up to 300 characters of text and save your change. To change your note or delete it, select “edit Notes” by clicking on the pen icon again notes.

How do I share listings with notes?

You can share listings with notes when you are signed in. Look for the “Share my notes” checkbox selection as you send an email through Email a Friend. You can also indicate this preference as a default in your Account Settings (Communications section).

Are my notes only visible to me?

Yes. Only you or a person you specifically authorize to see your notes (through Email a Friend or as a default in your account) will see your notes on listings.

How many saved searches can I keep when I sign-in?

You can save up to 50 searches in your account. As a guest user, you can only save 5 and you won't be able to access them from a different browser or location.

How many favourites can I keep when I sign-in?

You can save up to 150 Favourites in your account. As a guest user, you can only save 50 and you won't be able to access them from a different browser or location.

Can I access my compared properties from another browser?

As a guest user, you are limited to viewing them from one browser in one location. When you sign in, you are able to access them from any location or browser.

Is my information kept private?

REALTOR.ca ensures proper security measures are taken when it comes to your account data. Get more information here.

Can I keep my default account settings?

You can save your search criteria, how you view the site and your mortgage calculator preferences so they are saved for all future signed-in visits. This is all available within your profile under My Settings.

What Social Media is supported?

REALTOR.ca supports Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google as Social Identity providers allowing you to set up and access your account. You can use more than one to access your account.

I want to receive updates and informational emails. What are my options?

As a signed-in user, you have the advantage of receiving REALTOR.ca emails related to:

  • REALTOR.ca website and apps news: to keep you up-to-date on upcoming feature releases, product changes and more
  • Real Estate news: to help you understand buying or selling process, inform you about community events etc.

You can select these when you sign up on the More About You page.
You will also be receiving important emails related to activity in your account, which may be related to account setup, password rest, privacy policy change etc. You cannot opt-out of those emails, as they are required to keep your account secure and functioning as expected.

Can I change my preferences for REALTOR.ca emails?

Yes. To make changes, visit My Account and select Communications. Here you can check/uncheck the options.

Will my settings and preferences be synced between browsers?

Yes, as long as you are sign-in, your changes will be reflected when you refresh a page or make an action (add Favourite, compare property, run search etc.).

How do I update my email?

You can change your email from My Account, accessible from the top navigation area of the website.

How do I deactivate my account?

You can deactivate your account by selecting the "deactivate account" button on My Account page. For details on account information, see Privacy Policy.

If I saved favourites or searches before creating an account, will they be in my account when I sign-up?

If you say “yes” to import, we will make it happen!

When you say “yes” to import, those locally saved listings and saved searches will be added to your account?

When you first create an account, or as you save listings (add to Favourites, Compare etc.) without signing in, you will be given an option to import/move your locally saved Favourites, Compared listings and Saved Searches to your account, allowing you to access them from any browser or location.

Will my changes be reflected between browsers and locations?

Synchronization keeps your account up-to-date between all your access points (devices, locations etc.) when you are signed in. For example, if you Favourite a listing using one browser at work, you will see that same listing in My Favourites when you sign in from your laptop computer. You don't have to do anything; it is done automatically.

How do I make room to save more Favourites, Compares or Saved Searches?

For Favourites click the red heart in the upper navigation bar. Click on the heart icon for any listing you wish to delete. It will be removed from your Favourites.

For Compares, click the blue houses in the upper navigation bar. Click on the blue house icon for any listing you wish to delete. It will be removed from your Compares.

For Saved Searches use the green View Searches button on the Home Page just under your search listings. You can delete a saved search using the garbage can icon or delete all saved searches using the Delete All link.
